The Jumbo Egyptian is simply a roux variant of the Jumbo Brown/Wild variety. They are very similar to the Jumbo Browns. Their plumage has more of a red tint, compared to the brown of the Jumbo Browns. With that said, there are some key differences. Our Jumbo Egyptians are not nearly as big as the Browns, weighing in at an average of about 12 ounces.

BEST QUAIL FOR EATING EGGS: Our Jumbo Egyptians are not only great layers, with each hen producing an egg most days for around 2 years . . . but their eggs are BIG! An average quail egg weighs about 13 grams. Our flock of Jumbo Egyptians lay eggs with an average weight of a whopping 16.8 grams! That's 30% larger than the average quail egg!

FEATHER SEXABLE: Jumbo Egyptians can be sexed at just 3 weeks old. If you're looking to create a breeding flock of your own, you don't want to be feeding a bunch of birds that will eventually need to be culled. With the Jumbo Egyptians, at 3 weeks old you can sort out the roosters from the hens. The males will have a rust colored chest, and the hens will have a light, spotted chest. We recommend a ratio of 1 Rooster per 5 Hens for breeding.

Quail are considered "Jumbo" if their mature weight is higher than 10 ounces. Our Jumbo Egyptians have an average weight of 12.2 ounces at 10 weeks old.

Shipping wait times are updated daily, but they are just estimates. They are based on our current order backlog. If we get a spike in orders in a single day, wait times could be longer than anticipated. All orders are filled first come first serve.

We package our eggs very carefully for shipment, and rarely have any issues with damage. But just in case, we always include a few extra eggs.
